Description

Four friends, one warehouse, and an idea for doing things their own way: that is how Bereshit began in Beit Shemesh, at the foot of the Judean Hills. They set out to create their own line of snacks and eventually opened stores devoted entirely to Bereshit products, allowing them to work closely with their suppliers and carefully oversee what reaches their customers.

They prepared a savory salad mix filled with sunflower and pumpkin seeds, cashews, almonds, herbs, and salt. The combination adds a lively scatter of crunch, color, and roasted, nutty flavor to fresh vegetables, making even a simple chopped salad far more tempting.

And there could hardly be a better season for it. As Sukkot approaches, Israeli tables begin to groan beneath platters and bowls carried out to the sukkah, where family and friends gather for long holiday meals under the schach. Chop tomatoes and cucumbers, drizzle them with olive oil, and finish with a generous handful of Bereshit’s mix for a little crunch from Beit Shemesh—and another taste of Israel at your own Sukkot table.

Inspired by the beloved seed-and-nut mixtures found throughout Israel, Bereshit brings together crunchy seeds, nuts, herbs, and a distinctive blend of Israeli spices, including za’atar.

A generous handful is all it takes to transform a simple salad into something more satisfying and flavorful. And if you love the mix on vegetables, don’t stop there—it’s delicious enough to enjoy straight from the bag as a crunchy snack.

Share it with family and friends, or keep it on hand to add an easy Israeli touch to everyday meals.

Bereishit means “in the beginning,” and it is the first word in the Bible. The four friends who established the snack company intentionally chose the name to remind them of their connection to the Holy Land and Torah, even while conducting business.

Bereishit is a well-loved Israeli snack company focused on all elements of creating delicious snacks, from roasting and mixing to packaging and selling the snacks in their stores around Israel.

Bereishit adheres to the highest standards, from the quality of its raw materials to its kosher certification, which has earned them a loyal following from within Israel’s most religious communities.

The business is owned and operated by four friends in the city of Beit Shemesh in central Israel.
